Our Next Adventure

Our second journey will be from July 3rd - 21st, 2017. Our leaders will enjoy sightseeing and cultural experiences as well as time interacting with other students like them. A brief overview of our itinerary includes:

DAY 1 – 2: TRAVEL DAYS ( 3RD JULY – ARRIVAL IN UGANDA)
Fly from anywhere around the world and arrive at Entebbe international airport in
Uganda. Spend the night at Emmaus guest house in Kampala.

DAY 3: KAMPALA – JINJA (4TH JULY)
Travel from Kampala to Jinja, and then transfer to Arise Africa, which will be your
accommodation during your time in Jinja town. Have a meal and get oriented.
AFTERNOON: Tour Jinja- visit the market and the source of the Nile.
EVENING: Take in a guest lecture on Uganda’s history and culture.
Journey time: 2 hours 30minutes.
Accommodation: Arise Africa.

DAY 4: MEDICAL CLINIC (5TH JULY)
Visit Sole hope and participate in their medical clinic where they help the community
treat and prevent jiggers. Visit their shoe factory and get an opportunity to give out
shoes to the children in the community.

DAY 5: SERVICE LEARNING (6TH JULY)
Today, perform service work, such as renovating or painting a school building alongside
our local partner, Soft Power Education. In the afternoon, right after lunch, head out
to Soft Power’s Amagezi Education Center and learn more about what Soft Power Education
and it’s impact on the community.

DAY 6: KAYAK ON THE NILE (7TH JULY)
Attend a kayaking class with Kayak on the Nile and learn how to safely navigate the
warm waters of the Nile. Kayak on the Nile classes are led by internationally qualified
instructors distinguished by their safety record and experience. This excursion a perfect
learning environment for those looking to learn something new or boost their skills.
After the class, and lunch, kayak downstream and practice your new – found river running
skills.

DAY 7: JINJA – SISIYI,MBALE. (8TH JULY)
On this day, travel to Mbale from Jinja. Sisiyi, is a small town within Mbale district and is
home to the beautiful Sisiyi falls. Have lunch and the take an afternoon hike of the
waterfall.
Journey time: 4 hours 30 minutes
Accommodation: Sisiyi campsite

DAY 8 – 12: SERVICE PROJECT (9TH – 13TH JULY)
Spend these 5 days building a protected well to help the community’s water problems.
Our local partner for this project is Lodoi Development Fund are involved in numerous
admirable projects in Uganda.

DAY 13: SISIYI, MBALE – KAMPALA (14th JULY)
Travel back to Kampala from Sisiyi and transfer to your accommodation at Emmaus guest
house, have lunch and spend the rest of the day resting and relaxing after a very busy 5
days.
Journey time: 6 hours
Accommodation: Emmaus guest house

DAY 14: KAMPALA CITY TOUR (15TH JULY)
Morning: Tour the vibrant city of Kampala and visit major landmarks and cultural sites like
the King’s palace.
Afternoon: Visit the slums and get involved in a slum outreach program by Raising Up
Hope for Uganda where they show love and help street children living in the slums.

DAY 15: SAFE HOUSE PROJECT (16TH JULY)
Spend this day with the Raising Up Hope for Uganda team helping out at the “safe
house”. This is a home where some of the street children who leave the slums are
provided with shelter, food, clothes, discipleship and other basic needs.

DAY 16: A DAY IN A UGANDA HIGH SCHOOL (17TH JULY)
Spend this day at a local high school in Kampala. You will get to attend class with
Ugandan students of your same grade, and also do extra-curricular activities such as
having lunch and playing sports with them. This is a great way of understanding what
school life is like for Ugandan students and also getting to interact with students of the
same age and grade.

DAY 17- 19: SAFARI AND WILDLIFE ADVENTURE (18TH – 20TH JULY)
Travel to Murchison falls national park on a 3 day safari. Feast your eyes on a variety of
wild animals like, lions, giraffe, elephants, hippos and may more. This safari gives you an
opportunity to relax and enjoy your last days in the Pearl of Africa, Uganda.

DAY 20: RETURN HOME (21ST JULY)
On this day, in the afternoon or evening, transfer to Entebbe international airport for your
flight back home. We hope your time here is as memorable and fun as it was for us
